When it comes to women’s hair removal, many women have mixed opinions on waxing as a suitable way to rid themselves of unwanted hair. There are advantages to waxing, but on the flip side also has its disadvantages, its about deciding what’s right for you.
Pros: Its quick – waxing is fast and larger areas can be done in one go, making the whole experience less time consuming than other methods. Do it yourself – To save money going to expensive salons, it is a good idea to purchase your own waxing kit, working out a lot cheaper than other methods in the long run. You can of course visit a salon if you don’t feel comfortable with this. Longer lasting, smoother results – Waxing pulls hair out from the root, leaving you smooth and hair free for between 2-8 weeks, depending on your hair type/speed of regrowth. Your skin will feel immediately smoother. Its not just for legs – Waxing is suitable for removing hair on any part of the body, including eyebrows. No cuts – Waxing eliminates the danger of cutting yourself, which can lead to scarring. Hair grows back thinner – Over time, waxing can reduce the amount of hair that grows back, with hair often growing back softer and sparser than before. This is due to the hair being pulled out from the root, weakening the follicle.
Cons: Painful – Waxing is quick but can be painful for some, depending on your pain threshold, the more you wax the less painful it will be each time. Sensitive skin – If you have very sensitive skin, waxing may not be for you. It could cause skin irritation or make an existing skin problem worse, in worst case causing infection. Waiting for regrowth – Wax has to have something to hold on to, enabling it to grip the hair and pull it out, there needs to be some regrowth, not goodif you like to be smooth and hair free all the time. So, you see, waxing does have its advantages and disadvantages. If weighing them up doesn’t make up your mind, the only way to find out if waxing is for you, is to give it a go.
